Stainless steel pipes are hollow long round steels, which are mainly used in industrial pipelines and mechanical components of petroleum, chemical, medical, food, light and mechanical instrument industries, etc. Under the condition of having the same bending and torsional strength,
stainless steel pipes also have lighter weight, so they are widely used in the manufacturing of mechanical parts and engineering structures.
Features
Usually
stainless steel pipes have three features: Weldability, corrosion resistance and polishing performance.
Properties
Stainless steel pipes have the surface resistance less than 1000 megohms and also have properties of wear resistance, excellent chemical resistance, good alkali resistance, acid resistance, flame resistance as well as good toughness.
Manufacturing methods
Stainless steel pipes are classified into seamless stainless steel pipes and welded stainless steel pipes two categories according to manufacturing method. Seamless stainless steel pipes can be divided into hot rolled pipes, cold rolled pipes, cold drawn pipes and extrude pipes; cold drawn and cold rolled processes belong to secondary process for the
steel pipes; welded stainless steel pipes can be classified into
LSAW and
SSAW.
Classification
According to different materials,
stainless steel pipes are divided into ordinary carbon steel pipes, high quality carbon steel pipes, alloy pipes, alloy steel pipes, bearing steel pipes,
stainless steel pipes, coated pipes as well as bimetal composite pipes for saving precious metals and meeting special requirements. There is a great variety of stainless steel pipes with different applications, technical requirements and manufacturing methods. At present outer diameters of stainless steel pipes we produce range from 0.1mm to 4500mm and wall thickness range from 0.01mm to 250mm.
Stainless steel pipes are divided into OCTG, boiler pipes, pipes for mechanical structure, hydraulic prop pipes, gas vessel pipes, geological pipes, chemical pipes(high pressure fertilizer pipes and petroleum cracking pipes) and shipbuilding pipes, etc.
Connection types
There is a variety of connection types for
stainless steel pipes, and the common connection types of pipes fitting are taper thread, socket welded, loose flanged, welded, etc. The application scopes of these connection types vary from each other due to their different principles, but most of the connection types are easy and stable. We mostly choose national standard materials such as silicone rubber, Nitrile Butadiene Rubber and EPDM rubber for materials of sealing rings or gaskets which are is connected to the pipes, eliminating the user's worries.
Prospect
Stainless steel pipes are safe, reliable, hygienic, environmental friendly and economical. The successful development of the thin wall thicknesses, new, reliable, simple and convenient connection types makes stainless steel pipes have more irreplaceable advantages than those of other pipes. Stainless steel pipes will have a bright future which will have a wider application in engineering and be more and more popular.
