chemical industry, decoration and so on. It pulls thousands of enterprises' development. According to relevant data, the shipbuilding industry can provide 3000 labor jobs in the upriver in every construction per one deadweight tonnage. Shipbuilding industry has condensed people's wisdom and hard work, which is the symbol of national comprehensive national strength. Moreover, it is also a measure standard of a country’s position in the shipbuilding industry and ocean engineering of the world.
Steel tube has been widely used in ocean engineering. There are three main kinds of steel pipes that ship and ocean engineering system roughly demand for: conventional
steel pipes, structural steel pipes and special steel tubes.
This technical article mainly talks about conventional steel pipes’ application in shipbuilding.
Different ships and ocean engineering have both the conventional system and the dedicated system.
The general service life of the ship is 20 years. The conventional system accounts for a large proportion, which basically has bilge, ballast, drainage, water injection, water, fire, air, sewage, measure, cargo oil, stripping, ventilation, inert gas, heating, washing, foam fire-fighting, watering, bog, liquid level telemetry, valve remote control and so on. Special ships include transport liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other dedicated system. The service life of steel pipe in ocean engineering is at least 40 years. There are special drilling equipment system, crude oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) treatment process system in addition to conventional systems in ocean engineering.
According to statistics, it is found out that the consumption of pipe of ship class reaches five million tons, about 500,000 pipes. The standards are GB, YB, and CB. 70% of steel pipes are connected. The length of ultra-large ship steel pipes and pipe fittings with a dosage of 30 tons can reach tens of kilometers. The steel dosage is 1000 to 1500 tons, which of course is limited compared with steel pipe quantity for hull structure with 40,000 tons. In addition, the same kind of ship needs to be built more, and there are many other ships. However, the length of a very large FPSO pipe of 300,000 tons level needs more than 40,000 pipes. And the length is over 100 kilometers, which is 3 to 4 times than that of the same tonnage level. Therefore, the shipbuilding industry also becomes a big user of steel pipe industry.
