Oil and gas transportation is an important market for welded pipes. The research and development of large-diameter, high-impact welded pipes have become a research hot topic in recent years due to the long-distance and economical requirements of oil and gas transportation. The field of oil and gas transportation is based on the premise of project demand, and with the development of resources to special environmental areas such as deep sea, corrosion, low temperature and seismic layers, the project presents the need for individualized technical requirements, diversified specifications, and high performance. New requirements are put forward in terms of materials, pipe making, testing, inspection, and evaluation. Our company relies on consistent manufacturing technology, technical advantages in material research and development of pipelines, performance matching of pipes, high-pressure precise forming, research and inspection and evaluation of multi-wire high-speed welding. Our high-grade LSAW pipes are favored by customers. By the end of 2020, the UOE welded pipe unit has achieved a cumulative supply of more than 7500 km, of which the X70 and above steel grade products have exceeded 5070 km.
 
Oil and natural gas, as strategic resources, have achieved rapid development in constructing pipelines. The pipeline construction mileage in China is shown in Figure 1. As the main body of clean and low-carbon energy, natural gas can form an integrated development and multi-energy complementarity pattern with clean energy such as wind power. It will maintain rapid growth for some time. It is expected to reach 526 billion m3 in 2030 and peak at 650 billion m3 around 2035. Crude oil and refined oil products are relatively not in demand. After carbon peaks in 2030, steady development and optimized layout will be the main focus. Therefore, there will be opportunities for the development of welded pipe products that can be used in special harsh environments, for example, large-strain welded pipes adapted to special environments such as earthquakes, landslides, and subsidence zones. The deformation behavior characterization methods, technical index systems and simulated deformation tests of large-strain steel pipes have been researched and established in China. In the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline project, X70HD grades of Ф1 016 mm×17.5 mm, Ф1 016 mm×21 mm and Ф813 mm×14.7/17.2 mm large-strain steel pipes made in China were used for the first time, totaling 59 126 tons. The advancement of professional technology and research and development of pipes have better met the needs of the differentiated development of the market.
